My AIR 35 Story
Before this site existed, it was just my own revision notes.
I came back to preparing for a technical entrance exam after a couple of years away from active coding — I’d spent that time attempting a different competitive exam and hadn’t cleared it, so I decided to go back into IT and target CDAC C-CAT instead for the PG-DAC course, which meant clearing Section A and Section B.
The English and aptitude side of Section A wasn’t new to me — I’d already covered similar ground during my earlier prep — so I didn’t spend much time there. Almost all of my one month of preparation went into the Section B core CS syllabus: C programming, data structures, OOP, operating systems, and networking.
The biggest realization from that month: you don’t need to go deep on every single topic. C-CAT rewards a strong, even base across the whole syllabus far more than expert-level depth on two or three favorite subjects. A candidate who can reliably answer 80% of every topic will always outscore one who can answer 100% of half the topics and guess on the rest — especially with negative marking working against blind guesses.
I built my own material from scattered sources because nothing consolidated existed in one place. That gap is the entire reason this site exists now. I ended up ranking AIR 35, which was enough to get into a top CDAC centre of choice.

What is CDAC C-CAT
CDAC C-CAT (Common Admission Test) is the entrance exam conducted by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing for admission to its PG diploma programmes — PG-DAC, PG-DBDA, PG-DAI, PG-DESD, PG-DVLSI, PG-DIoT, PG-DITISS, and PG-DCSF among others. Your C-CAT rank, combined with your course and centre preferences, decides your seat during counselling.

Complete Syllabus, Section by Section
C-CAT is split into three independent sections, each with its own time limit — time doesn’t carry over between sections. Which sections you attempt depends on your course category.

How to Prepare — A Realistic Strategy
This is the phase-wise version of the “even base, not narrow depth” approach from my own prep.
Phase 1 — Diagnose (Days 1-3)
Attempt one section-wise mock or a previous year paper cold, no revision first. This tells you which of the ~20 topics across Section A/B are already fine and which need real time — don’t skip this step and start “studying everything from scratch.”

Phase 2 — Build the Base (bulk of your timeline)
Go topic by topic through the cheat sheets, in this order for most candidates: C Programming → Data Structures → OOP/C++ → Operating Systems → Networks → DBMS → Quant/Reasoning/English. Read the cheat sheet first, then the full topic guide if a concept doesn’t click, then the MCQs for that topic immediately after — don’t batch all the reading before any practice.

Phase 3 — Drill Weak Topics (final 2 weeks)
Flashcards for fast active recall on anything you keep getting wrong, timed MCQ sets on the specific topics that are still shaky — not full mocks yet.
Phase 4 — Full Mocks (final week)
Full timed, section-wise mocks under real exam conditions, review every wrong answer the same day, not the week after.

How to Use the Cheat Sheets, Flashcards and MCQs on This Site
Cheat sheets are one page per topic — formulas, syntax, definitions. Use them for a 2-minute scan before an MCQ set, or the night before the exam. Not for first-time learning.
Flashcards are flip-card active recall drills. Use them after you’ve read a topic guide once — flashcards test retention, they don’t teach a concept from zero.
MCQs are topic-wise, with instant feedback. Use them immediately after reading a topic (to check understanding) and again in the final week under a timer (to simulate exam pressure).
Blog / topic guides are the deepest layer — full explanations, common mistakes, interview questions, and solved MCQs for a single topic. Use these when a cheat sheet line doesn’t make sense on its own.
